Chapels in Llanelli (20-11-2009)

An important new book by Huw Edwards, Capeli Llanelli: Our Rich Heritage was published by Carmarthenshire County Council on 5 December 2009.
This attractive and readable book of 550 pages is well illustrated and includes numerous excellent photographs of exteriors and interiors of chapels. There are chapters in English and Welsh. Price: £25 hardback and £15 paperback (ISBN 978-0-906821-78-7 hardback; 978-0-906821-77-0 paperback).
New Chairman (20-11-2009)
The new Chairman is an active member of the Presbyterian Church of Wales. He serves as Secretary and Deacon of his local chapel in Cefn Meiriadog. He is a past President of the Presbytery and a member of committees of the Presbytery, the Association and the Connexion.
A carpenter by training he worked in local government from 1970, retiring in 1996 as Chief Buildings Management Officer for Glyndŵr District, Ruthin. He has been a Councillor on Denbighshire County Council since 1996 and has been a past Chairman and Vice-Chairman. He will be Chairman of Council again in 2010-11.
He is interested in local history and has been Chairman of both the Denbighshire Historical Society and the Cefn Meiriadog Historical Society. He is also a member of the Flintshire Historical Society and the St Asaph Archaeological Society. He has served as a member of the Council of the Welsh Books Council, and the Court and Council of the National Library of Wales and the University of Wales.
